Tips for Match Day in the DMV

Arrive early. The USA match windows especially will fill fast — June 12 at 9 PM against Paraguay is likely to be the most chaotic night in DC bars since the 2022 tournament. Give yourself 30-45 minutes before kickoff for any seated venue.

The free options are genuinely good. The National Mall fan zone, D.C. United's United in Play events, and the Arlington Mill Watch Party Wednesdays are all legitimately well-organized and free. Don't default to a packed bar just because it's the obvious move.

Midday games are underrated. Many group stage matches kick off at 3 PM or 6 PM, which means happy hour deal timing and a more relaxed atmosphere than the primetime USA games.

Check for reservations. Venues like Shipgarten, Quinn's, and some of the restaurant-style spots require advance reservations for watch party events. Don't show up assuming you'll get in.

Getting there. The Metro is your best option for Navy Yard, Penn Quarter, Dupont Circle, and U Street. Green/Yellow lines serve Navy Yard and U Street. Red serves Dupont Circle. Orange/Blue/Silver connect to Rosslyn and Clarendon in Arlington.
