Best Late Night Happy Hours in the DMV: Deals Until 8 PM, 9 PM, and Beyond (2026)

Updated July 2026. Please let us know if anything is outdated and we will get it updated!

Most happy hours in the DMV end at 6 or 7 PM. But if you work late, have an evening commute, or just can't make it out before sundown, that doesn't mean you're out of luck. Across DC, Arlington, and Maryland, a surprisingly strong collection of bars and restaurants run deals until 8 PM, 9 PM, and sometimes well past midnight.

This guide organizes them all by how late they run. Whether you're getting off work at 7:30 PM or looking for something after dinner, you'll know exactly where to go.

Quick Links:

Until 8 PM

The 8 PM cutoff is the sweet spot for late workers and evening commuters. These spots give you a real window to arrive after 7 and still catch a deal that most happy hours don't offer.

Washington DC

1831 Bar & Lounge (Downtown DC) Monday-Friday 5-8 PM: $5 beers, $6 wine, $8 cocktails, and half-off appetizers. One of the latest standard happy hour windows in downtown DC. The 8 PM cutoff makes it genuinely useful for anyone who can't leave the office before 7.

Binge Bar (H Street NE) Wednesday-Friday 5-8 PM: $4 wine, $5 beers, $7 cocktails, and discounted bar bites. Three hours of deals on H Street with one of the latest cutoffs on the corridor.

Kingfisher (Logan Circle) Monday-Friday 4-8 PM and Saturday-Sunday 5-8 PM: craft beers, canned wines, and cocktails. Seven days a week until 8 PM, one of the most consistent late windows in the city. Tuesday trivia nights make this a full evening rather than just a quick drink.

Black Jack (U Street) Tuesday-Thursday 5-8 PM: $5 draft beers, $6 wines, and discounted small bites. One of U Street's best late windows, useful for anyone making their way up from downtown after a long day.

The Green Zone (Adams Morgan) Tuesday-Saturday 5-8 PM and all day Sunday: $1.50 off drafts, $11 wine, $12 cocktails. Three hours of deals at one of DC's best cocktail bars. Adams Morgan's most consistent late happy hour.

Arlington

The Board Room Dupont Circle (Dupont Circle) Monday-Friday 4-7 PM and Saturday-Sunday noon-7 PM: $5 select drafts and rail cocktails, $6 house wines, $17 select pitchers. The weekend noon start makes this one of the best daytime-to-evening options in Dupont.

Maryland

Caddies (Bethesda) Monday-Wednesday 3-10 PM, Thursday-Friday 3-8 PM: $1 off drafts, $6.50 rail drinks, $7 margaritas and wine, $3 off starters and sliders. The Thursday and Friday 8 PM window is one of the most generous in the Bethesda area for late arrivals.

Arlington and Northern Virginia

Colada Shop (Clarendon and National Landing) Happy hour runs until 8 PM at both Arlington locations with Cuban-inspired cocktails and food specials. One of the later windows in Clarendon, where most spots cut off at 6 or 7.

Big Tony's (Arlington) Runs until 8 PM on weekdays with beer and food specials. A casual, neighborhood option with one of the longer windows in the area.

Until 9 PM

At 9 PM you're firmly in late-night territory by DMV standards. These spots are the ones to know when standard happy hour feels out of reach.

Washington DC

CODE RED (Adams Morgan) Daily 5-7 PM standard happy hour, plus 50% off whiskey flights Wednesday-Thursday. The whiskey flight deal extends the value well past a typical 6 PM cutoff and makes this one of Adams Morgan's best mid-evening options.

Jack Rose Dining Saloon (Adams Morgan) Monday-Saturday 5-7:30 PM: $2 off beer and wine, $12 Whiskey Classics, and 50% off bar bites in the downstairs Saloon. The 7:30 PM cutoff is late enough to serve the dinner crowd that eats early and wants a drink after.

Vagabond Bar and Kitchen (Adams Morgan) Tuesday-Friday 5-7 PM and all day Sunday with $4 Medella Light, $6 house wine, $7 white sangria, $9 Illegal Combo, and $4 off signature cocktails. The Sunday all-day window is the real draw here for weekend evening drinking.

Maryland

Silver (Bethesda) Daily 9:30 PM to close at the bar: $5-10 drink specials including cocktails, wines, and craft beers. One of the only restaurants in the DMV running a second late-night happy hour session every single night of the week. If you're in Bethesda after dinner and want a discounted nightcap, this is the answer.

Owen's Tavern & Garden (North Bethesda / Pike & Rose) Tuesday-Friday 9:30-11 PM: $2 off local drafts, $6 cocktails, $7 wines by the glass, $10 featured whiskey of the week. A genuine late-night second session at one of Pike & Rose's best bars. Rare to find a named late-night window with this much specificity on the deal.

Arlington and Northern Virginia

Babylon Futbol Cafe (Falls Church) Happy hour runs until 9 PM with beer and food specials, one of the latest standard windows in Falls Church and a natural soccer bar option for evening matches.

El Taquito (Falls Church) Happy hour runs until 9 PM with margarita and Mexican food deals. Late window on a street with strong international dining options. Pair with a walk through Eden Center before or after.

Idylwood Grill & Wine Bar (Falls Church) Mondays 5-9 PM: 50% off all bottles of wine. Monday-only but one of the most compelling single-day deals in Northern Virginia. A full bottle of wine at half price is a genuinely unusual offer.

Until 10 PM and Beyond

Past 10 PM the field narrows significantly, but these spots are worth knowing for truly late evenings.

Washington DC

Daru (H Street NE) Daily 5-6:30 PM standard happy hour, plus a reverse happy hour Tuesday-Thursday and Sunday 9-11 PM: $8 wines and martinis plus snacks under $10. Two separate happy hour windows at one of DC's best cocktail bars. The 9 PM session is the one to know for a late-night drink somewhere genuinely worth the trip.

Tapori (H Street NE) Weekday 5-6:30 PM standard happy hour plus a reverse happy hour Tuesday-Thursday and Sunday 9-11 PM: $8 wines and martinis alongside South Asian street food snacks. H Street's best double-session deal. Daru and Tapori are sister spots and can anchor a full H Street evening from happy hour through late night.

Kathmandu (U Street) Reverse happy hour Tuesday-Thursday and Sunday 9-11 PM: $7 beers and mocktails, $9 wine, $8-14 specialty cocktails, BOGO select cocktails, $1 momos, and $7-12 tapas. The $1 momo deal at 9 PM on a Tuesday is one of the more distinctive late-night offers in the city.

Arlington and Northern Virginia

Dog Haus Biergarten Bethesda (North Bethesda) Happy hour runs 10 PM-2 AM in addition to the standard afternoon window: $3 off Haus cocktails, $2 off draft beer and wine, plus food specials. One of the only spots in the Maryland suburbs running a genuine late-night happy hour well past midnight.

Reverse Happy Hours

Reverse happy hours flip the script entirely. Instead of deals at the start of the evening, these spots discount drinks and food after the dinner rush. Prime for night owls and the post-dinner crowd.

Daru (H Street NE): Tuesday-Thursday and Sunday, 9-11 PM

Tapori (H Street NE): Tuesday-Thursday and Sunday, 9-11 PM

Kathmandu (U Street): Tuesday-Thursday and Sunday, 9-11 PM

Silver (Bethesda): Daily, 9:30 PM to close

Owen's Tavern & Garden (North Bethesda): Tuesday-Friday, 9:30-11 PM

Dog Haus Biergarten Bethesda (North Bethesda): Daily, 10 PM-2 AM

All Day Happy Hours

If your schedule is unpredictable or you simply can't make a specific window, these spots run deals from open to close or for such long stretches that timing barely matters.

Abuare Bar and Restaurant (U Street, DC): Daily noon-6 PM, $8 rotating cocktails. Midday start with a six-hour window.

Blue Iguana (Fairfax): Daily noon-8 PM, $5 rotating drink and food specials. The longest continuous happy hour window in Northern Virginia.

Dolce Vita Italian Restaurant (Fairfax): Daily noon-6 PM, $2 off beer, wine, and cocktails, plus $2 off cicchetti.

Glory Days Grill (Falls Church): All day every day with rotating specials.

Friends Kitchen & Cocktails (Falls Church): Monday-Friday noon-7 PM, $4.99 beers/wines, $7.99 well shots, $9.99 premium shots, $15.99 cocktails.

Tips for Late Night Happy Hours in the DMV

Call ahead or check the listing before going. Late-night happy hours are the most likely to change, get quietly discontinued, or vary by day of the week. Always verify before committing to a late-evening trip.

Adams Morgan and H Street are your best bets. Both neighborhoods skew toward later crowds and have the densest concentration of spots running deals past 8 or 9 PM. If you're planning a late-night happy hour crawl, start on H Street (Daru, Tapori, Binge Bar) or head up to Adams Morgan (Green Zone, Jack Rose, Vagabond, CODE RED).

Reverse happy hours reward patience. The best late-night deals (Daru, Kathmandu, Silver's nightly session) require waiting until 9 or 9:30 PM. Plan dinner first, then migrate to the reverse happy hour spot after.

Weekdays are better than weekends for late deals. Most reverse happy hours and late windows run Tuesday-Thursday. Friday and Saturday late-night crowds mean bars don't need to offer discounts to fill seats.
